Our Company

In 1993, Ed and Mary Ann Westbrook co-founded QuarryHouse. With Marin County headquarters and stone shops in Richmond, California, and Verona, Italy, we forge creative partnerships with top interior designers, architects, and builders. Renowned landscape architect Lawrence Halprin was one of QuarryHouse's early collaborators. We partnered with Halprin on prestigious public commissions in addition to private landscapes. These included the fabrication of a granite amphitheater at Stern Grove and The Letterman Digital Arts Center grounds, rehabilitation of the Yosemite Falls Corridor, and construction of the Agave Trail on Alcatraz Island.

Today, joined by the second generation of Westbrooks, Dillon, and Cassie, we continue to translate the ancient craft of stone masonry into a modern vernacular. Our master stonemasons believe in the "Art of Legacy," creating timeless structures by combining traditional and modern stonework techniques.

    Our core commitment is to the vision of the interior designer, architect, builder, and homeowner. We ask the question, "How can we apply our art and knowledge to delight our clients and together make something truly extraordinary?" QuarryHouse brings ideas and details unique to the stone mason's toolbox by understanding the design concept. We encourage our industry partners to engage us early in the planning process with their design team to utilize our creative resources.

  • Our Stone Shops

    To provide our clients with the finest stonework, we operate workshops in Richmond, California, and Verona, Italy. The Richmond facility, located in a mid-century metal industrial space, features a full complement of equipment, from traditional stone carving tools to computer-controlled milling machines. By contrast, our Verona team works from a hundred-year-old restored stone farmhouse repurposed as a carving atelier and office.
