OAK: Italian Heritage

QuarryHouse admires and supports craftsmanship. Their Italian partners in Verona, CITCO, often collaborate with the Como-based furnishings company OAK. The oak tree symbolizes the Roman god Jupiter and is a more accessible name to remember than Martinalli Pologna Furniture Company. Four generations of the family have crafted fine furniture, starting with Giuseppe Martinalli and continuing today with Viola and Guido Pologna. Their made-in-Italy products include a complete classic collection and innovative contemporary designs. The Galleria Collection showcases their mastery of historical genres, ranging from flourishes of baroque and rococo to the restraint of neoclassicism and empire.

As a counterpoint to the Galleria Collection's traditionalism, OAK produces several modern offerings, working with internationally renowned architects and designers. Under the artistic direction of Luca Scacchetti and with the collaboration of Paolo Portoghesi, the Percorsi Collection references the timeless minimalism of ancient cultures, as do Art Deco and Art Moderne furnishings. Exotic woods like ebony and wengé accented with crystal and bronzed brass details give these pieces an elegant appeal. Scacchetti followed Percorsi with the streamlined Milano Collection. OAK also commissioned eclectic and esoteric Limited Editions from Ettore Sottsass, Mario Bellini, and Portoghesi.

OAK’S signature mix of old with new

In addition to selling single pieces of furniture, the OAK team participates in large projects. They collaborated on 85 private residences, 44 royal palaces and governmental offices, and 23 luxury hotels and golf clubs. QuarryHouse looks forward to seeing what they create in the San Francisco Bay Area.
