Marin landart

World-renowned sculptor Beverly Pepper invited QuarryHouse to assist her with a LandArt commission in Marin County. The stone masons built a massive “cyclopean” style wall in a hillside to bring Pepper's vision alive. Sourcing giant boulders in the Sierra foothills, QuarryHouse utilized cardboard models along with CAD and Photoshop to develop the artist’s design. After transportation the team cut the boulders down, working them into the patterns of the walls. They dry laid the stone pieces fitting the joints tightly. An aerial lift allowed Pepper to view them in perspective. QuarryHouse constructed timber centerings as they erected the stones then placed reinforced concrete behind to capture each course. Complex stone engineering and construction is a hallmark of the company.
