CELEBRATING THE ARTISAN
Fair Play
QuarryHouse’s Ed Westbrook is a great admirer of renowned Master Stone Carver, Nicholas Fairplay. The ICAA Artisan Committee which Ed chairs, will be presenting, "Stone Carving Techniques: Architectural Elements," a lecture by the UK born and Continental-trained artist. Living in the United States since the 1990s, (including a few years in San Francisco), Fairplay's accomplishments span the globe. His commissions range from consulting on the Giza Pyramids Archeological Mapping Project to carving Queen Victorias's Coat of Arms for Dartford County Court House. The informative event, including a wine reception, will be held at the famed Willis Polk designed Hobart Building in the Variety Preview Room Theater at 582 Market Street, San Francisco, on Friday, October 25, 2019, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
For professionals, artisans, students, and enthusiasts who want to advance their knowledge of classical stone carving techniques, QuarryHouse and the ICAA Artisan Committee are hosting Fairplay at a Master Stone Carving Workshop. Held at QuarryHouse's Richmond Stone Shop, Fairplay will inspire and instruct participants during his in-depth stone carving class. Basic carving tools and stone will be provided along with a complimentary luncheon where like-minded people can share ideas. Join us Saturday, October 26, from 9:00, am to 4:00 pm at QuarryHouse 900 Brookside Drive, Richmond.
