The owner of this Belvedere estate dreamed of a garden built from rare and unique stone. As a result, QuarryHouse sourced antique limestone for the garden walls and terraces from a village in China. The town faced abandonment because of the Three Gorges Dam project so QuarryHouse worked with local villagers and farmers to salvage the stone. For two years the reclaimed limestone floated down the Yangtze River to their stone shop and QuarryHouse found additional limestone in local quarries. To match the color and grain of the teak arbor, QuarryHouse created solid sandstone columns and used a rare fossil stone from the Atlas mountains in Morocco to serve as the material for the carved spa and fountains.
