Modern Villa
This site was a real stunner with an out of date landscape and exterior finish. The architect, Ken Linsteadt, wanted a crisp contemporary look to the finishes, stone decks and appointments. The color palette was to be a in the cool tones, though the stone needed a warm color base. QuarryHouse found a wonderful vein of Portuguese Limestone called “Gascogne Blue” that had a beige base with subtle blue veining. We suggested they build a suspended deck system which allowed for a level surface around the pool, conducive to the elegant indoor-outdoor style entertaining area the homeowners envisioned. Our team detailed a very large deck paver that measured three feet by four feet in full thickness stone. The gray limestone cobble for the entry drive offsets massive six inch thick plinths of the Gascogne Blue Limestone for the entry porch. The finished result is elegant and clean use of a classic stone in a modern setting.
